The third game in the Lego Star Wars franchise, based on the animation series ”The Clone Wars”, is an excellent family game that offers thrills, entertainment and loads of humour.

This game is quite similar to the first two games of the series: You start in the headquarters, which in this game is the Republican cruiser Resolute. From here on, you move in and out of a wide variety of missions in the vast Star Wars universe.

You can play as several different characters from the Clone Wars series, each character possessing a different skill set and weaponry. You can change between characters as you please. Sometimes, you get to control entire troops, and, in some of the levels, you participate in huge battles. You’ll also encounter large “bosses” or monsters that you need to defeat. As well as this, on occasion, your task is to build something using virtual Lego bricks or solve a puzzle.

”Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars” is a cartoon-like adventure game. The game isn’t particularly innovative; still, the concept is excellent. The graphics are great, the surroundings are new, and the light sabre use has some new functions. In addition, the possibility to control entire troops in battle, and the bosses you encounter, are elements new to this game.

The game can be played alone or with a friend. Unfortunately, it’s not possible for more than two players to play at once. Throughout the game, you get to watch funny video clips that are based on The Clone Wars TV-series.

Child suitability:
The control mechanics are good and precise. The game offers a lot of thrills, and the music enhances the drama, but it never gets scary.

The tasks and riddles that you need to solve throughout the game, are usually easy to understand; still, the solutions aren’t always the most logical ones. Some trial and error will probably be required.

The game is labelled with violence, as there is quite a lot of fighting. However, the violence is not graphic at all – the Lego characters simply fall to pieces and disappear when defeated.

Level of difficulty:

3-6 years: Under the age limit.

7-11 years: Some of the tasks require some figuring out what to do. However, with some gaming experience, patience, and/or help from an adult, most children will be able to complete the different levels.

12+: First and foremost, this is a game for children; still, it’s suited for young people and adults as well.

Suggested age: Suitable for children from 7 years.

Format: PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS/3DS, Nintendo Wii, PSP (PlayStation Portable)

PEGI: 7, violence
