Dragon Quest: Realms of Reverie
02.09.2011
The sixth installment of the Dragon Quest franchise offers a classic ‘good vs. evil’ adventure game, in which you battle the evil dragon Murdraw.
The Dragon Quest games are developed in Japan, and are based on the manga comic book style. You play as a muscular super hero, and your task is to defeat an evil dragon and search for the great truth.
The story revolves around a portal connecting two parallel universes. On your journey you’ll encounter fascinating characters and amazing fantasy worlds. As you play, you learn more about the parallel universes, and, gradually, as you gather experience, points, new tools and abilities, you get access to new features and functions.
Throughout the game, you constantly have to fight a large number of opponents. Before a battle begins, you get the opportunity to choose mode of battle as well as put together a strong team.
The game is rich in content, and will fascinate fans of adventure games. The graphics, sound effects, music and the use of the two Nintendo DS screens are all well made; this is a high quality game in every way.
Child suitability:
”Dragon Quest: Realms of Reverie” has a 12 year age limit, and contains a large amount of violence. However, the violence takes place in a fictional universe and has a low level of realism. As well as this, the DS screens are quite small.
The language is quite strong, which, in our opinion, is unnecessary, as it doesn’t contribute to the game in any positive way.
The game is labelled with “Gambling”, due to the fact that the game contains virtual casinos where you can play card games and slot machines. Still, you can’t use real money, and it’s not an essential part of the game.
Level of difficulty:
3-11 years: Under the age limit.
12-15 years: At times, the level of difficulty is high, especially for 12-13 year olds. Still, with some experience and patience, young people of this age will enjoy this game.
16+: The game is well suited to young people and adults alike.
Suggested age group: Suitable for children from 12 years.
Format: Nintendo DS
PEGI: 7, violence, bad language, gambling
