Toy Story 3
02.09.2010
Woody, Buzz and all their friends are back in a heart-warming film that offers drama, excitement and lots of humour. If you want a cinematic experience that will delight the whole family, "Toy Story 3" comes highly recommended.
Plot
Woody, Buzz and all of Andy’s toys are facing an uncertain future. They have been faithful companions to the imaginative boy throughout his childhood. Now Andy is going to college, and it's time to clean out his room. But what will happen to his toys?
Andy packs away all the toys in order to store them in the attic, but naturally a misunderstanding occurs. His mother assumes that the bag of toys is garbage, causing Woody and the others to over hear Andy describing his toys as junk. Woody realises that Andy said this not to seem childish, but still, Buzz and the others feel unwanted and decide to move to a place where they are appreciated.
Soon the toys find their way to the Sunnyside nursery, which at first glance seems like a paradise for unwanted toys. However, this turns out to be far from the truth. Caught between wild toddlers and some naughty toys, our friends struggle, and have to fight their way through a new crazy adventure in order to get safely back to Andy.
Quality and Theme
The first feature length computer animated film ever made, bore the title "Toy Story". It premiered in 1995, was a great success and marked the breakthrough for a new film genre that has become immensely popular. Since then, Pixar has produced a series of animated films, and all of their productions are of very high quality - both technically and story wise.
“Toy Story 3” is another triumph for Pixar. The film is well made and will make you laugh, quiver with excitement and probably give you a lump in your throat. The story contains everything a good family film should; comedy, drama, excitement, a little romance and a good message. An example of the quality of the story is the strategically placed flashbacks. In one of these we get an insight into why the evil main character has become who he is. This can provide children and young people with an important lesson. There is usually a good reason why a person turns, and becomes evil, and even if that person appears to behave in a certain way, there is always a deeper truth behind it all.
The story, as in the first two films, is mostly about loyalty and friendship. The film illustrates in a great way how important it is to be there for your friends and that humans are much stronger when we work together to achieve a goal. As well as this, the film has a great message that really is best suited for young people and adults, but we will not reveal that message here...
Suitability
The film has a U rating. However, the climax of the film may seem quite frightening to a young audience. In this sequence, the main characters are in grave danger, and are subjected to an act of great evil. For this reason we do not recommend that children younger than 8 years of age are allowed to see the film. For children from 8 years and older, this is a safe and enjoyable film.
“Toy Story 3” is equally engaging for children, teenagers and adults, and is an excellent choice for a family outing to the cinema.
Conclusion
”Toy Story 3” offers brilliant and educational entertainment that comes highly recommended.
