Dan Sanders experiences the wrath of the animal kingdom, when he becomes the supervisor of a project that is going to replace a beautiful nature reserve with a large housing development. This is a funny comedy with an eco-friendly message that is recommended for children from 6 to 12 years of age.

Plot
Deep in the forests of Oregon lies Rocky Springs, an old nature reserve that has been untouched by humans since the beginning of time. Here wildlife is rich, and several species live in harmony with each other.

Now this wildlife is in danger. A large corporation claims that they are going to build a small eco-friendly housing development, but they are really planning to chop down the entire forest. Real estate developer Dan Sanders, relocates his wife Tammy and his son Tyler from Chicago to supervise the project with him. Tammy and Tyler are not pleased with the fact that they have to live in the middle of nowhere. Dan, on the other hand, starts working with a positive determination and a conviction that he is part of a grand eco-friendly project.

However, soon problems arise. The animals in the forest do not accept that their homes are going to be destroyed. Led by an incredibly clever raccoon, the animals sabotage the work and do all they can to drive Dan to the brink of madness. Among other things, he is sprayed by skunks, kept awake all night by a crow and attacked by a swarm of bees. In addition, no one believes Dan when he tells them that the animals are after him, as he can’t prove that the animals are responsible for the sabotage.

Tammy sends Dan to a psychologist, but it doesn’t help at all. Dan wages war against the animals, but  this proves to be a bad idea. It is only by gaining a real respect for the forest and the wildlife in it that he can get out of this with his honour and his family intact.

 Quality and Theme
”Furry Vengeance” is made for a young audience and with an obvious intention. The message couldn’t be clearer – it’s all about showing children and young people that the destruction of beautiful natural areas cannot continue. Leaders of large companies are portrayed as unscrupulous fools who only care about money, and who do not care about the consequences of their decisions. Meanwhile, the main character is an ordinary man who is fooled into thinking that he is working on a project that benefits nature, but really he is only an unwitting and naïve pawn in a larger game. The animals’ revenge against Dan clearly shows that although he initially had no malicious intent, he should have known better. Hopefully children will understand this and realise that good intentions are not enough – you have to actually stay informed and clearly state your opinion when someone threatens nature entirely for their own gain.

The plot in itself isn’t very original to say the least. As well as this, the many special effects are of surprisingly poor quality. Nevertheless, the film consists of so many fun scenes that the youngest will probably enjoy this entertaining story with a good message.

Suitability
“Furry Vengeance” has a PG rating. With the exception of a very short scene which might scare some children (a dream sequence where Tammy, looking like a weird animal, wakes up and abruptly turns towards Dan), the film contains no unsuitable elements for children. For teenagers and adults this will most likely seem like a childish and silly film. We recommend it for children from 6 to 12 years of age.

Conclusion
This film is recommended on the basis that it is entertaining and sends out a good and clear message.
