The longed-for sequel to “Wii Sports” is finally here. Now you have more sports, better precision and the same joy of playing as in the previous edition. This is a great game for everyone between seven and ninety-nine years.
Ever since the Wii-machine was launched, “Wii Sports” has been one of the best games for this consol. Now the sequel is here, and they’ve taken seriously the critique that the first game contained too few sports. In this game you can do archery, fencing, paddle a canoe, play table tennis, throw basketballs, as well as many other sports. All in all there are twelve different genres, and all of them contain more than one game. All the games are played with Wii Motion Plus. This is a part you connect to the Wii Remote-control, which makes the steering more precise. In the bowling game you can for example twist your wrist when you throw, and this is registered so the ball gets a good spin.
“Wii Sports Resort” is a game that really reaches its full potential when several play it together. The whole family can participate. Children, parents and grandparents will enjoy this game a lot. We assembled a group with different ages to try it. The youngest enjoyed competing against the eldest, especially when they won. Just as in real life, precision, concentration and a little luck is required to go all the way to the top. When it comes to control in sports games, this game is more life like than we’ve ever seen before. The graphics are simple and functional, but no one notices this when it’s the action that counts.Child suitability:
Everyone over seven years can easily take part in this game. Both the children and adults in our test group really enjoyed themselves throwing Frisbees, driving water scooters and trying out all the other sports. In the fencing game you compete as cartoonish characters. The loser vanishes into the air, so the violence is minimal. Children under seven will probably struggle with mastering the sports, but older children will easily know what to do, especially if they’re helped by adults to begin with or if they try it out a little first. All in all “Wii Sports Resort” comes across as one of the better games for the consol. And remember, practice makes perfect.
